The 2025 Paris Air Show was like none before, between the aftermath of the Air India Ahmedabad crash, multiple global conflicts, and full order books at both Airbus and Boeing. But with a superlative new business seat from Safran for ANA, plus movement around the A220-300 densification and A220-500 stretch, this show may yet prove to be the pivot around which the industry turns for quite some time.

The big thing to note this week: beyond all the contexts and everything that went down at Le Bourget, my key takeaway is just how full order books are — and how problematic it is getting aircraft delivered (including because of cabin delays), how airlines are going to need to keep their older aircraft flying longer, and what that means for cabin retrofits.
